Closing the Dadeland Gap

A favorite place to ride for many of us is the M-Path, zig-zagging among the pillars of the Metrorail between South Miami and Downtown. Unfortunately, the path doesn't extend all the way to the end of the train line at Dadeland South station, where it could link with the South Dade Trail -- soon to reach all the way to Homestead and Florida City. Discussions are under way between Miami-Dade Transit and developers around the Dadeland North station as to where the closing link should run and how it should be built.

A hearing has been scheduled for April 10 in South Miami to consider the M-Path Master Plan, which I surmise will address the Dadeland Gap as well as how to extend the path north to the Miami River. The meeting will be held at the South Miami Public Library, 6000 Sunset Drive.

Or, you could hear preliminary recommendations for the master plan at the March 21 meeting of the Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The committee generally meets on the 18th floor at the Stephen Clark building, 111 NW 1st St., Miami.
