Late opposition to Arch Creek Trail in N. Miami
For at least four years, the city of North Miami has been planning a network of bike paths extending from Biscayne Bay across the city to NW 16th Avenue. Recent efforts have focused on the Arch Creek East Bike Route, reaching from Biscayne Boulevard along NE 135th Street to the edge of the Florida International University campus. There it could connect with campus paths used by FIU students, staff and neighbors. The City Council budgeted the path for the 2006-07 fiscal year, and planners designed it last year after a series of community meetings. Now, however, a few residents who object to the path have gotten the Council to put it back on their agenda for tomorrow night's meeting. Bicyclists who want to see this path built need to be at City Hall at 7 p.m., prepared to speak. And if you can't attend, drop a note to Councilman Scott Galvin, whose district includes the site. He's firstname.lastname@example.org.
