Pedestrians, cyclists should be allies

As bicyclists seek space and due consideration on the public roads, pedestrians are our natural allies. We often share the same paths, we rely on a working system of signs and signals for protection, and we are equally vulnerable and outnumbered by machines many times our weight and speed. The current pedestrian-safety campaign in our nation's capital may shed light on what we contend with. Good reading today in the Washington Post's Dr. Gridlock column.
