Validating those satellite maps

I'm an avid user of online mapping -- starting with MapQuest in my AOL days and continuing through Yahoo!, Google Earth and my current enthusiasm, Platial, whose maps you've seen here several times as illustrations for Spokes 'n' Folks articles. It was thoroughly enjoyable, then, to discover Bridget Carey's piece in today's Miami Herald about how Navteq validates the information it provides most of the Web-based and GPS services for building their maps. The piece is a delight in print, but there's a video sidebar on the web, too.
