Window opening on Virginia Key

Have you ever been riding on Virginia Key? On this 1,000-acre barrier island alongside the Rickenbacker Causeway, there's lots of scrub, a sewage treatment plant, sea breezes and Miami's billion-dollar skyline. Wildlife, too. Folks at the City of Miami want to make more of the city-owned site, and they're holding a hearing this week to take ideas from the public. If you're among the bicyclists I've heard about who envision a mountain-bike park out there, you need to get busy and attend Wednesday's program. The when and where:
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, June 21
LaSalle High School cafeteria
3601 S. Miami Avenue
For more information, use your browser and check out this. And remember: It's not like the city is looking at a blank slate here. Planners have already been dreaming up possibilities for the Key, as reported earlier this year in Miami Today.
