Path honors bike advocate

Kitty Roedel was present Saturday when the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority dedicated a bicycle path to her along the Dolphin Expressway (State Route 836) between NW 87th and 107th Avenues. Theo Karantsalis, a member of the Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee, reports:
It is a beautiful bicycle path! David Henderson and I had a great time riding on it for the first time.
Roedel hasn't been mentioned here very often, but cyclists ought to know her name. As a member of the Redlands Conservancy back in the 1990s, she put her energy and influence behind the creation of multi-use paths along the network of canals in Miami-Dade County. She also served on the expressway authority from 1995 to 2005.
