Bike-sharing takes preparation

Miami has many admirers of the Parisian bike-sharing program, Velib (sorry, accents aren't working today). Thanks to Hank Sanchez-Resnik for pointing out an excellent new article about the program. One point it makes:
Velib alone is not enough. Paris also has separated bike lanes -- and lots of them. Another manifestation of the greening of Paris.
The piece also notes the 400 km of bike paths inside Paris and 23 km in the Boulogne and Vincennes woods -- and the many well-marked bike lanes on streets where bikes and buses get priority. You can read more in Pricetags.
