Henderson pitches bike opportunities

David Henderson, the bicycle-pedestrian coordinator for Miami-Dade County, made a fine pitch for South Florida's biking opportunities yesterday. As a guest on WFOR-TV, he impressed the anchors with his dawn ride from South Miami to their studios. (That was no stunt; David regularly commutes downtown by bike, and has been known to show up, far from his usual orbit, in slacks, golf shirt and helmet.) One of his key points on Channel 4 was that for most of us, there are riding opportunities right where we live -- for instance, in quick runs to the supermarket or coffee shop, those mile-or-less trips that are so wasteful of gasoline. Here's the five-minute interview.
