Bike lane as parking

The bike lane in front of Miami City Hall was a popular place for car parking this morning. Spots next to Dinner Key Auditorium were full, so people with city business couldn't go there. Had they driven another half a block past the marine store, they'd have found ample space in a city lot. Ironically, the City Commission was issuing a proclamation of March as the city's official Bike Month. It's nice to have bicycling recognized that way, but having bike facilities observed and enforced might accomplish more.

Miami bicycle coordinator Collin Worth reports that signage will be improved so it's more obvious that these lanes are designated for bicycling. Also the neighborhood police commander, himself a cyclist, promises enforcement.
